I am an R.D.T, and the owner of Aorta Dental Laboratories Inc in Mississauga Ontario. My lab is celebrating 25 years of business this year. I am proud to announce the launch of our new websites: http://aortalab.com, which is our main business informational site, and http://aortadesigner.com, which is our custom dental designing website.
The AortaDesigner website was created to bridge the gap between ultimate personalization of a dental appliance, and the technical aspects of creating a prescription for a patient's case. Hopefully we have taken steps in the right direction by providing this online solution that provides the patient access to tools which allow them to create a custom look for their appliance. The dentist/doctor can also benefit by being able to directly edit a clients design by adding detailed prescriptive information. The program allows the dental professional to save all changes/additions, and then email a copy directly to our dental lab for fabrication. I see kids, teens and young adults being very excited to try their hand at designing their custom look. These days everything is about personalization (ie: from ipod skins to custom ringtones). The goal with the AortaDesigner application is to create excitment about the patient getting a dental retainer. If a person feels that they have had a hand in the creation/fabrication process, it is more likely that they will care more about it and be engaged with their treatment. Kids and Teens will see it as "something cool that I designed", and it probably won't end up lost or in the trash "by accident". Of course not everyone is a "creative artistic type", but we've got something for everyone. The process can be as simple as a patient logging in and just choosing a color, or one of our fabulous preset designs (showcased in our online gallery). You don't have to be a picasso to get a artistic unique looking design. We've tried to make the process as user friendly and easy to use as possible, but of course we know that there is always room for improvement. Comments and suggestions are welcome!
